ART CENTER AHJO, HIILI-TILA: TIINA HALLAKORPI

BADEN BADEN Art Spa - art spa
TIINA HALLAKORPI 5.3. - 24/03/2024

BADEN BADEN Art Spa - art spa is a spatial installation that is built from three works in the Hiili space. The works are made with things that already exist in the world, ready made, blurring the boundaries between art and reality.

I wanted to disconnect and have fun, perhaps as a counterbalance to the gloomy world situation and the endless barrage of bad news. Play is in the center, BADEN BADEN Art Spa - art spa is a light and playful installation that plays with the concept of an art spa.

As a visual artist, I have usually wanted to create connections for my works with the environment, place and space of each exhibition venue by always creating new works for each exhibition venue.

Flower Shower/kukkasuihku - the starting point and inspiration for the work was the mural painted on the outside wall of Võru's public sauna, the work was exhibited and made specifically for Võru's cultural house (Color Go Go - group exhibition 2021)

Now, in the Ahjo Hiili space of the art center, I have set out on a new path by building around the already existing work "Flower Shower/Kukkasuihku" an installation that plays with the idea of an art spa.

In different eras, spas around the world have cured different diseases with different methods and cleansed the body. The name of the exhibition refers to the spa town of Baden - Baden in Germany. It was a fashionable spa favored by aristocrats and the upper class of the late 1800s and early 1900s, where, in addition to promoting health, people gathered to meet acquaintances and spend time, play cards and other gambling games at the casino, drink champagne and dance.

Art has traditionally been a representation of something, just presenting its subject. You can't really get a shower of flowers in this spa, but you can imagine it. Have a good time at the BADEN BADEN Art Spa - art spa!
