ART CENTER AHJO, SYSI HALL: JUSA HÄMÄLÄINEN

LOVE CORRESPONDENCE
Jusa Hämäläinen
Sysi Hall

"I'm a draftsman. I've drawn these pictures on copper. Making pictures makes me cringe from waiting for the finished print. The charm of metal graphics is the slowness of making them. In this hectic digital world, it's refreshing to get a picture on paper after so much difficulty and many work steps."

The works in the Love Correspondent exhibition are pictures of the gentler aspects of life, caring, closeness and love. In Hämäläinen's pictures, they are kissing, reading, swimming, floating, swinging - slowly.

Jusa Hämäläinen (born 1972) is an illustrator and graphic artist from Joensuu who has had a decades-long career. Hämäläinen has illustrated fifteen children's books, three textbook series, and drawn numerous cartoons and illustrations. In his day job, Hämäläinen works as the front man of the visual team of the newspaper Karjalainen.

The Love correspondent is Hämäläinen's debut exhibition, which is hung in the Sysi -space of Taidekeskus Ahjo.
