AQVASERI - PAINTERLY SERIGRAPHY
JOHANNA TURUNEN
24.01.-11-02.2024, KYTÖ- AND LIEKKI -SPACE

The Aqvaseri technique combines serigraphy, i.e. silk printing, and traditional watercolor painting into one art form. Aqvaseri enables a painterly end result alongside the clear and linear serigraphy technique. I developed the aqvaseri technique as part of my serigraphy teaching and as part of my own artistic work.

In my exhibition at Taidekeskus Ahjo, I will use a video recording to show how a print is created with the aqvaseri technique. The exhibition also features finished prints, test pieces and an artist's book, in which I tell in detail how I work in Joensuu's graphics workshop with serigraphy.

Johanna Turunen is a visual artist living and working in Joensuu. For thirty years, she has used serigraphy as part of her artistic work. She also works with e.g. painting, photography and ceramics. Turunen has been able to create several public works of art.
